Teens

A straight-shooting space for teenagers — with clear ground rules so parents know what to expect.

Teens usually know when something’s off. What they need is someone who talks to them like a person, not a problem to be managed.

What sessions actually look like

We talk. Sometimes about the big stuff — anxiety, school pressure, friends, family, mood, identity — and sometimes about whatever’s on their mind that week. There’s no script and no lecturing. The goal is for them to feel comfortable enough to be honest, because that’s where the real work happens.

How confidentiality works with parents

For counseling to work, teens need to trust that what they say stays in the room. As a rule, the details of our sessions are confidential. Parents get a general sense of how things are going and are looped in on anything involving safety — but I don’t report back the play-by-play. I go over exactly how this works with families up front, so everyone’s clear.

Working with the family

Teens don’t exist in a vacuum, so when it’s helpful I’ll bring parents into the conversation — with the teen’s awareness. The point is to support the whole picture without making your kid feel like counseling is just another place they’re being watched.
